6.1 STATEMENT ON NAAB-ACCREDITED DEGREES

In the United States, most registration boards require a degree from an accredited professional degree program as a prerequisite for licensure. The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), which is the sole agency authorized to accredit professional degree programs in architecture offered by institutions with U.S. regional accreditation, recognizes three types of degrees: the Bachelor of Architecture, the Master of Architecture, and the Doctor of Architecture. A program may be granted an eight-year term, an eight-year term with conditions, or a two-year term of continuing accreditation, or a three-year term of initial accreditation, depending on the extent of its conformance with established education standards.

Doctor of Architecture and Master of Architecture degree programs may require a non-accredited undergraduate degree in architecture for admission. However, the non-accredited degree is not, by itself, recognized as an accredited degree.

Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico offers the following NAAB-accredited degree program:

6.6 Student Financial Information

Educational budget is an estimate of a student's educational expenses for a given enrollment period. It projects the direct and indirect costs associated with achieving the student's chosen academic goal. Budgets are designed considering several specific components determined by the Higher Education Act of 1965, Part F, Section 472. Most programs run for nine (9) months annually. However, there will be situations in which the budget will be modified (for example, when the program is longer or shorter than nine (9) months, or the student will only enroll for one semester/quarter of the academic year) and must include other study costs, such as summer sessions.

The components of an educational budget are:

  • Registration and Fees
  • Housing and Food
  • Books and Materials
  • Computer and Computer Materials
  • Miscellaneous/Personal Expenses
  • Transportation

Adjustments to the educational budget due to a professional judgment (medical expenses or disability, dependent children and their care expenses or tuition at private school, among others) will be considered at the student's request; however, the student will have to present the documents that the Financial Aid Office requests to support their request.

Each PUCPR educational budget is carefully detailed annually to ensure alignment and consistency with program requirements and average expenditure realities. Therefore, budgets are prepared according to the level of study (undergraduate and graduate) and under the following classifications:

  • "Home" - The student lives in his parents' house.
  • «On Campus» - The student stays at PUCPR facilities.
  • «Off Campus» - The student stays in private accommodation, is independent or married and lives in a house or private accommodation.

Educational budgets for PCUPR have been prepared taking as an example a student enrolled full time: fourteen (14) credits (at the undergraduate level) and six (6) credits (at the graduate level), except those that correspond to programs that have a specific credit module such as: Architecture, Medical Technology, among others.
