ACADEMIC DIRECTOR
Professor Javier Hernández Pérez is the Academic Director of the School of Architecture and Design. His career is distinguished by a unique blend of practical experience in the construction industry and a strong academic background. Since 2016, he has been a key member of the School’s faculty, teaching foundational courses like Architectural Design Fundamentals, Architectural Structures, and Digital Representation.
Before his academic career, Professor Hernández held significant roles as a project manager and consultant for various construction firms, which provided him with invaluable real-world industry knowledge. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico and a Master’s in Architectural Structural Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
With a vision focused on the holistic growth of students, Professor Hernández takes on his new role with the goal of strengthening the academic, creative, and collaborative environment, promoting critical thinking, social empathy, and teamwork.
